Message I would like to add some clarity to this OIL PAN confusion..

Our poorly informed friend on the board has been passing off the idea of having a CAST pan made for the VG and using the idea of it works for 350z and 240sx… well that’s not totally true at all. The KA24DE in the 240SX has a pan very similar to the VG in the Z32. those cast pan that have been posted in other threads will not work on that motor and nor will that idea work on the VG without a lot more than just a pan like those.

So lets compare the different designs.
From the FSM’s

VG30DE/TT and a KA24DE(240sx), both pressed/stamped steel.

And an SR20DET(Silvia) oil pan set., which it’s basic design is very similar to a VG35DE’s

So now we see the difference between the oil pans for the IRON block motors (VG/KA) and the two piece oil pans for the AL block motor(VQ/SR).

A whole different upper oil pan, or skirt would be needed to be designed with baffles

So lets look at some of the pricing for some of the optional lower oil pans that some ppl are trying to use vrs SZ pricing for a FULL body STEEL oil pan.

This is a stock SR20 oilpan $100

This is a cast greddy pan, $250+,

This is a sheet metal Tomie pan, $500

And a 350z stock lower pan and a cast APS pan for $350.

So that’s the aftermarket lower(half body) pan.

One thing with the cast pans is, at least for the SR, is when they are hit with large road debris, they general crack. Sheet and stamped metal usually bends. I have a cast piece on my motor and im very careful of hitting debris.

While searching I found where someone had a (OMG NO WAY) full sheet metal oil pan for a KA24., here it is next to the stock KA pan.

So in conclution, you really can’t compare neither the price nor the construction of the lower (half body) oil pans to the whole body STOCK STEEL oil pans or the modded STEEL PANS that SZ are producing. It’s more than just wielding a box on it. And you can’t just bolt on one of the other pans to the VG’s

Don’t be suckered and fooled by someone bashing a product who has no clue what they are talking about.

Thank you and good night.
